Celebrate our first Halloween!

Cutest small fry ever?

Yes indeed.

Today was our very first Halloween as a family! We made chocolate chip cookies and took them around to the neighbors as a "reverse trick or treat" since Owen can't eat candy yet (and Mommy and Daddy don't need any more!). All the neighbors thought he was adorable and we had to agree. He was smiley and happy while all the kids came and got candy but he passed out by 7 pm! Apparently being a french fry makes a kid exhausted.

We sat out on the porch and waited for trick or treaters. It was fun to hang out with all the neighbors.

We went to McDonalds and got some happy meal boxes to fill with cookies for our immediate neighbors. We even put the cookies in fry wrappers!

We had a great time! Can't wait to celebrate Thanksgiving and Christmas as a little family this year.

Explored Discovery Place Kids!

OMG it was amaaaaaaazing! It's all about imaginative play, there's a whole infant section, and it's only $90 for a year of family membership (2 adults and however many children are in your household). It's 2 miles from our house so we're definitely joining when Owen gets a little more mobile! It'll be the perfect way to spend the afternoon on rainy days or just to play for 1/2 an hour. There's a HUGE playplace right in the middle that would kick any McDonald's butt too so we won't have to resort to playing at a fast food restaurant when I'm desperate to entertain him!

Here's a little bit of what we did today :)

Played at the water table with awesome infant seats so the babes could reach themselves!

Owen played in the baby area that was all padded. He was trying so hard to get a truck that was a couple feet away. After about 5 minutes of scooting he finally made it!

Owen watched the game with his Daddy on Sunday and *almost* watched his first Bills win...they blew it in overtime in true Bills fashion but it was much closer!

Yesterday we tried to go to Discovery Place Kids for the first time! We got ready and were SO excited to explore our new local museum...and then it was closed. Boo. So we packed the car up and went to the library with our friends Emily, Molly, Jessica, and Evan. We played with books, talked, and found a toy that Owen LOVES!

Looks like Owen will be getting one of these for Christmas! He spent about 2 hours playing with it on and off!

He got his feet caught in the fun new toy but Mommy helped him out!

Went to the pumpkin patch!

Today we went to Carrigan Farms to pick our first pumpkins as a family. Dan and I have gone the past few years on our own but it was SO much more fun to have a baby with us! It's amazing to watch all the fun Owen is having just looking at the new things around him. He enjoyed eating the pumpkins most of all...and touching the horse with Daddy. I did not participate in the horse touching adventure but I did document it so that no one can say that I'm "putting Owen in a bubble" (DAN).



We've been having a great time with Owen lately. He's at such a fun age where he's starting to really react to all the things we do. He has such a little personality. Here he is just playing with his daddy on the hay ride. He was singing and hiding his face to play peek - a - boo.



We've also been having a lot of fun trying new foods in the past two weeks. Owen's very first food was butternut squash but we've also tried gala apples, peas, sweet potatoes, and bananas. Next we'll be trying out pears and pumpkin with cinnamon.

Created a new blog!

I've been being hounded recently to update our old blog (Jen)...but it just didn't seem like the blog we should be updating anymore because babymcdonald2010 is now a real person in our family with a name and quite a personality :) So we're doing a family blog...and by we, I mean Amy.

I decided that since the title of the blog is "On this farm we" each blog post will be describing something that we're doing since becoming a family. We'll see how long I remember to keep that up!

So I'll try to post pics of our sweet boy regularly and tell a little bit about what he's learning each day.
